Faut-il pratiquer le Cross-training ou la Musculation ? | Charlie Tango Fitness

Should you practice cross-training or bodybuilding?

Bodybuilding VS Crossfit

The first thing that comes to a bodybuilder's mind when discussing crossfit with them is the #crossfitfailvideos on YouTube. Likewise, the first thing that comes to a crossfitter's mind, when you debate bodybuilders with them, is the bully, vanity, and chicken legs they think of first.

Fitness enthusiasts are generally divided into two tribes which are a) bodybuilding b) crossfit. And that makes us wonder which one is best and which one is right for you. Well, we can help you. Here is the result of the match bodybuilding vs crossfit.

Bodybuilding in a nutshell

Bodybuilding focuses on muscle growth and development. The goal is to reduce body fat as much as possible and then increase muscle mass. It focuses on the development of each part of the body.

Each part is worked individually, from the shoulders to the calves. Bodybuilding tends to yield the best results if you focus on making your body look proportionate and aesthetically pleasing. The bodybuilding process is a long procedure. To get results, you need to be patient and stick to a certain diet.

CrossFit in a nutshell

Crossfit can be defined as a strength and conditioning program. It is not a specific program designed to focus on a particular aspect such as size or the aesthetic appearance of one's body and muscles. Besides, there is no ice in a crossfit box.

The goal is to combine speed, strength, and technique on any exercise and session. Unlike bodybuilding, crossfit is not about fat loss or aesthetics. The goal is performance.

The difference

Crossfit is not a specialized sport. In crossfit you have a workout of the day, also called WOD. The workout for the day can include different types of exercises that will target different muscles or specific skills.

Athletes may be required to lift weights, run, row, and do weightlifting, as well as a variety of other athletic activities.

In strength training, your training tends to focus on one body part per day, 5-6 exercises, 3 sets per exercise with a minimum of 10 reps per set. After each set, there is an interval of 60-80 seconds. The objective here is to target muscle hypertrophy.

The intensity of Crossfit is higher than that of bodybuilding. However, due to the high intensity, the risk of injury is higher than with bodybuilding. Also, if you're looking to gain weight or muscle, CrossFit probably isn't in your best interest. But if fitness is your only goal and you want to be an athlete who can run, lift, be a jack of all trades, then go for it.

The verdict

If you are a beginner, bodybuilding should be your starting point. You need to have muscle strength to do a tough and complex workout like CrossFit. Bodybuilding will help you build muscle strength and fitness in the first place.

Crossfit also involves complex movements such as deadlifts and snatches, which may be too difficult for a beginner. It is therefore best to master these lifts through bodybuilding. If you are a beginner, start with bodybuilding. Then move on to crossfit for total fitness. Crossfit is perfect for advanced training.
